Dr. Fernando Cañas is Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the Hospital Dr. R. Lafora in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Canas graduated in Psychiatry at the School of Medicine of the Independent University of Madrid in 1977.
He embarked on his career in Psychiatry at the acute inpatient and emergency units of the Hospital Dr. R. Lafora in Madrid, Spain before becoming Head of the Department of Psychiatry at the same hospital. Dr. Canas was an associated Professor at the Department of Psychiatry at the Independent University of Madrid (1987-94) and led numerous trials on new antipsychotics.
Dr. Canas is a member of the Spanish Societies of Psychiatry, Biological Psychiatry, Neuropsychiatry and Psychiatric Epidemiology and the American Psychiatric Association.
